CROSS-COUNTRY
The East Northumberland Blue Dragons captured the overall team title of the Bay of Quinte Invitational for the seventh straight season Friday at Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area north of Brighton. Dragons tallied 33 points with Lindsay St. Thomas Aquinas (20) second followed by Kingston Sydenham (19) in third. Trenton High's Rachel Faulds set a new course record while winning the junior girls individual crown (14:44) and Quinte's Nick Holden (23:01) claimed gold in senior boys competition. Kaelan Parker of Centennial was third followed by James Denny of St. Theresa (fourth) and PECI's Jordan Miller (fifth). Amanda Lowthian of Centennial was second in the senior girls race while Emma Riley of Nicholson placed fifth. Adam Doxtator of Bayside finished second, by two seconds, in the junior boys race with Nathan Duffy of Marc Garneau third. Behind Faulds in junior girls was Alexandra Rainville of Marc Garneau, second, while ENSS runner Olivia Patton was sixth. Centennial took the junior girls team title (Miya
Hemmersbach, Mallory Terry, Katie Svoboda and Sara Svoboda) with Bayside second. Joeb Babcock of Quinte was top local finisher in midget boys (fifth) while Nick Vachon of ENSS was sixth. Tori Sharpe of ENSS was eigth in midget girls. Goodrich-Loomis plays host to the Bay of Quinte championships Wednesday with races starting at 11:30 a.m.
